HISTORY

Quest Online was founded in February 2006 by serial investor Gregory Wexler and a group of investors. In early 2010 after a restructuring of the company, video game industry veteran Derek Smart was brought on board as an investor, partner, and Alganon team lead.

THE PRINCIPALS

DEREK SMART – PRESIDENT/PARTNER

In 2010, Derek Smart a software developer and entrepreneur with over thirty years experience in videogame development, joined the team.  He was tasked with heading the development team, and guiding the completion of the company’s MMO game, Alganon. He invested in the company, then purchased it several years later and became the majority owner.

Derek’s many achievements include leading the completion of the Alganon, shifting the game’s business model from subscriptions to the emerging Free To Play (F2P) model, overseeing the implementation of the game’s key components such as PvP, a monetization platform, localization, the creation of an expansion pack etc.

GREGORY WEXLER – FOUNDER/PARTNER

Gregory Wexler has twenty-five years of experience as an entrepreneur and business leader. He was the Chairman of SmartReply and Founder/member of The MortgageCoach, both firms recognized by the OC Business Journal as top fastest growing companies in Orange County (2007).

SmartReply, headquartered in Irvine, CA, is the largest provider of mobile and voice messaging services to retailers, grocers, financial services and agencies with 200 clients, including 55 of the NRF’sTop 100 Specialty Retailers.
